3 Ways To Look at Money

Do you believe in this quote?

“How you view money will dictate how you use it?”

Different people have different views when it comes to money.
The range of perceptions about money is very interesting.
Money is like an addiction, the more you have it, the more you want it.
Money is power, once you have more, you have the power to do a lot of things.
Money is evil, the more you have it, the more greedy you become.

I personally think that it is important we view money from the proper perspective. That way, we can build the skills to manage it effectively and eventually multiply it to help us reach our goals in life.

Surprisingly, some of the richest men in the world do not view money as the endpoint of all their day’s hard work. Most, if not all of them, understand that money can be a dangerous fixation and destination. At the end of the day, money alone cannot guarantee one’s happiness, peace of mind, and sense of security.

Famous car engineer, Henry Ford, said, “If money is your hope for independence you will never have it. The only real security that a man can have in this world is a reserve of knowledge, experience, and ability.”

Microsoft founder, Bill Gates, has this to say about money, “I can understand wanting to have millions of dollars, there’s a certain freedom, meaningful freedom, that comes with that. But once you get much beyond that, I have to tell you, it’s the same hamburger.”

And then there are those who really believe that a whole lot of money will really bring them happiness. I remember actor Jim Carrey saying, “I think everybody should get rich and famous and do everything they ever dreamed of so they can see that it’s not the answer.”

Personally, I think this is how we should see money:

1: MONEY IS NOT EVIL
Money in itself is neutral. The problem is not money, but the one handling the money. It takes in the nature of the owner. If you begin to love it more than friendship, relationship, your name and reputation, it becomes the root of all evil.

MONEY CAN NEVER CHANGE A PERSON BUT ONLY REVEALS A PERSON.

2: MONEY IS BLESSING
Money can be a blessing, when managed properly.
Money can be a curse, when managed the wrong way, it can destroy your life.

CONTROL YOUR MONEY, DON’T LET IT CONTROL YOU.

3: MONEY IS ONLY A TOOL, TO MAKE LIFE BETTER AND EASIER
If the money you are earning is making your life easier, you’re using it the right way. But if the money you are earning is making your life harder, you’re using it the wrong way.

THINK. REFLECT. APPLY.

How about you, what do you say money is to you?
Have you been good at handling your money?
What can you do to be able to manage your money well?
