Wow Manila Sakay Na! Hop On Hop Off
The Department of Tourism (DoT) has accredited the "Wow Manila Sakay Na! Hop On Hop Off" tourist transport service, which provides tourists and balikbayans a safe, affordable and organized way to go around Metro Manila.
Patterned after Singapore's "SIA Hop-On Bus" and Europe's "Busabout" system, Wow Manila's vans stop every hour at 15 designated pick-up points located near hotels, malls, and other commercial areas around the metropolis. The service operates from 9 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. every day.
Guide drivers take their passengers through Manila, Makati and Pasay to visit various cultural and historical sites such as Intramuros and Luneta and shopping centers like the Ayala Center and SM Mall of Asia. Also in the itinerary are Casino Filipino, spas and wellness centers, and Malate and other entertainment hubs.
"This new service is part of our efforts to ensure our visitor's convenience while exploring the city. We want our guests to get the best out of their stay here, and the Wow Manila Sakay Na! System only enhances the experience," The DOT said.
The service has helpful maps containing its routes, times and stop locations, suggested places to visit, and fast facts about the Philippines. These materials are available for free at international airports, hotel lobbies, Ayala Malls, SM Mall of Asia, and other partner establishments.
The tickets are good for one whole day and cost P500 for adults and P400 for children and senior citizens. Those who wish to catch the Wow Manila van are advised to be at their chosen stations five to 10 minutes before schedule.
The vehicles are hard to miss as they are colorfully decorated with pictures of famous destinations in Manila, Makati and Pasay. Chauffeurs garbed in either Manileño, Ifugao or Muslim Mindanao costumes add a uniquely Filipino touch and speak of the diversity of Philippine culture.
Unlimited day pass tickets can be purchased from the van operators, after which passengers can sit back and enjoy the tour of Metro Manila at their own pace. The vehicles are equipped with audio/video monitors that explain to customers what to expect from the tour. The drivers are also trained to answer queries.
