2000 job vacancies in call centers & hospitals

Call center agents

Call center agents and nurses remain as the most in demand workers in local industries. Data from the DOLE-Bureau of Local Employment (BLE) showed that nurses and call center agents continue to top the list of needed skills, with close to 2,000 current vacancies.

The need for technical support staff is a far second, while vacancies for office clerks are ranked third.

Based on BLE records, there are a total of 64,386 vacancies in various commercial establishments nationwide while there are 24,124 jobseekers.

For the past three years, DOLE has recorded an increasing number of job vacancies or unfilled positions despite the high unemployment rate in the country.

Nurses

DOLE has embarked on skills training program in a bid to generate qualified workers for the growing number of hard to fill jobs in the country.

Also a few weeks ago, DOLE ordered all call centers nationwide to adopt occupational and health safety programs to curb the rising incidence of health problems among call center agents.

A study conducted by DOLE showed that call center agents are prone to stress, loss of voice, loss of hearing, headaches, eyestrain and musco-skeletal problems.
