DZMM tops Asia-Pac Broadcast Awards

DZMM Radyo Patrol Sais Trenta's news program "Radyo Patrol Balita" bested more than 50 entries worldwide and won in the Best News category for Radio at the 2007 Asia Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) Prizes in Tehran.

Radyo Patrol manager Angelo Palmonte said the recognition is an affirmation of the radio station's strength in breaking and bringing news stories while maintaining high editorial standards and ethical practices.

The "Radyo Patrol Balita" team includes News Producer Pau Atienza, News Writers Sheila Galgana, Irreen Alcala, and Joanna Ramano, Production and Technical Assistant Ellen Miranda , Desk Editor Gerry Baja, and Radyo Patrol Reporters Jun Lingcoran, David Oro, and Ruby Tayag.

Station Manager Angelo Palmones' weekly program "Bago Yan Ah" also made it as a finalist in the Best Infotainment category for Radio. The show educates and empowers listeners by dishing out information on science and technology.

DZMM, the number one AM radio station in Mega Manila for the 3Q of this year, is on a winning streak this year. It dominated the CMMA radio awards by scoring three victories and won "Radio Station of the Year" from The Rotary Club of Manila.

It launched DZMM TeleRadyo early this year, which is now available to cable TV operators nationwide to carry and offer its subscribers. Viewers can now see breaking news in video through Radyo Patrol reporter' 3G phone reports.
