Angelo Que became the first Filipino golfer in a decade to play in the British Open, one of the world's four majors.

He clinched the fourth and last spot in the International Final Qualifying-Asia at Sentosa's Serapong course in Singapore.

Que earned his first Major appearance in style as he holed out a monster 40-foot birdie putt on the fourth extra hole to snuff out Japan's Tomohiro Kondo hopes.

"I've been putting well and holed a few of those today. I had a similar putt during regulation but just needed to hit it harder. Luckily, I holed a long one at the last," Que said.

"It feels great as I haven't been playing well the past two years. Finally, I've got a chance to play in The Open. It's an honor for me to represent the Philippines. It's a dream come true," said Que.

The former Vietnam Masters champion thus became the first Filipino since Frankie Miñoza in 1998 to qualify for the Open, the year's third major featuring the world's top players, including Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Vijay Singh.
