Ramiele gets high marks in American Idol

Ramiele Malubay

Ramiele Malubay

Ramiele Malubay's stirring performance on American Idol Season 7 got her a ticket to the next round of the competition.

Malubay was splendid on the Dusty Springfield standard "You Don't Have to Say You Love Me." She displayed poise, control and professionalism. It's just thrilling to hear that big voice come out of that 4-foot-11 frame.

The judges all gave her rousing feedback. Randy Jackson called her “classy, almost like a pro.” Paula Abdul said she was “a force to be reckoned with.” Simon Cowell was just as generous: “You out-sang every single person.”

The 20 year old made it to the Top 20, after 2 male and 2 female singers were eliminated on Friday from the competition.

Ramiele follows in the footsteps of Brad Estrin in Season 1, Jordan Segundo in Season 2, Jasmine Trias and Camile Velasco in Season 3, Jose "Sway" Penala in Season 5, and AJ Tablado in Season 6.

The goal of Ramiele is to crack the Top 12 finalists and tbe the next Jasmine Trias.

Aside from Ramiele, the other semifinalists who survived were Kristy Lee Cook, Asia'h Epperson, Alexandra Lushington, Kady Malloy, Syesha Mercado, Amanda Overmyer, Carly Smithson, Alaina Whitaker, and Brooke White.

The male contestants who made it to the next round were David Archuleta, Robbie Carrico, Jason Castro, David Cook, Chieze Eze, David Hernandez, Michael Johns, Luke Menard, Danny Noriega, and Jason Yeager.

Malubay's next solo performance will on Wednesday at 8 p.m. on FOX.
