How are you today? Are you happy? Or are you going through some trials and challenges that are causing you to be sad and disheartened?
Do you feel that life is against you and that life is unfair?
“Why are these things happening to me…”
“I’m still having a hard time getting up from my previous failure, and now here’s another one coming up…”
“This was never part of my plan. Does God still hear my prayers?”
Maybe right now, you feel like you’re always down, you’re having a hard time sleeping, you’re always worrying, and you always seem to be hopeless – never having anything to look forward to in the next days, weeks, months, or even years.
This is a battle that most people find difficult to fight and win. Why? Because many people don’t realize that they are depressed, and as a result, they keep on dwelling on the same problem over and over again. They know that something is going on, but they never make any effort to look for a solution to change the way they feel.
It’s very tiring to be depressed. Imagine having to feel that way every single day. It’s perfectly fine if depression is just a short-term, fleeting thing. But the problem is, it can linger long enough to already pull you away from your opportunities, happiness, and chances to become a better person. And when this happens, you know it’s already causing harm in your life.
Do you want to be freed from depression? Then keep on reading this blog entry…
ADMIT THAT YOU ARE DEPRESSED
It’s normal and innate for all of us to want to be strong. This is because we want to be considerate to the people around us, like our family and people we work with. And this is why whenever people ask us, “How are you?” We simply say, “I’m okay.” Even if we’re not.
We try so hard to be strong, but the problem is, sometimes, we’ve reached our limits.
The first thing that you have to do is to admit to yourself that you are indeed depressed. If you keep on covering it up, it will only grow bigger and bigger, until it’s so big you can’t handle it anymore.
Be willing to admit that right now, you are at a point of weakness, and that you need the help of other people. Remember, admitting that you need help will not diminish your worth as a person.
Admitting that you are depressed and that you need help shouldn’t be a means to bring yourself down, but a means to solve your problems.
AVOID NEGATIVE THINKING
I won’t blame you if right at this moment, you can’t help but think negatively. That’s understandable given the negative circumstance that you are in.
But because what happened to you was already negative, don’t prolong it anymore or cause it to grow by thinking more negative thoughts. For example, maybe you were laid off from work – this is negative circumstance. So that you won’t keep on suffering this negative circumstance, don’t ever think that you can never find another work. Instead, start thinking positively, and believe that you will find work again because God has better plans for you.
START READING A GOOD BOOK
Feed your mind and soul with something that will help you be inspired and motivated. A good book can make this happen. This is because, as other people like to say, books can bring you to different world, and it can also change one’s outlook in life.
Choose a book that will brighten your mood and encourage you to bounce back – it can be religious, self-help, or inspiration.
There’s nothing more powerful than prayer.
Yes, it’s a good thing to have people around us who can help us vent out our emotions, but never forget that our ultimate Healer is ready to hear you and heal you. He is just waiting for you to speak to Him.
THINK. REFLECT. APPLY.
