Persistence Is A Major Key To Success

Do you know people who are just so persistent?

I remember one time when my family and I were traveling to Baguio. My kids were still so young, and of course, being kids, they couldn’t help but be bored during a 6-hour travel.

In the middle of the trip, one of my kids asked, “Papa, are we there yet?”

“No, we are still far,” I said.

After ten minutes, another one of my kids asked again, “Papa, are we there yet?”

“No, we are still far.”

After another ten minutes, another one of them asked again, “Papa, are we there yet?”

“No, please be patient. Please stop asking.”

After fifteen minutes, another one of them asked again, “Papa, are we there yet?”

I couldn’t help it! In an irate tone, I told them, “Please stop asking, we are still far from Baguio.”

“Papa, why are you so impatient? I was just asking?!!”

Oh my! Kids can drive you crazy sometimes!

Have you ever experienced something like this?

Have you met people who constantly ask you questions, and they just won’t stop until you give an answer.

They constantly follow you, everywhere you go.

They will do everything just to get your attention!

Maybe there’s someone like this in your school, at your workplace, or even in your home.

The reason why these people are so persistent is because they want something from you. If you refuse to give it, they will not stop until they get it. They will do anything and everything — whatever it takes just to annoy you and get you to finally say yes to whatever it is that they want from you.

Actually, in this sense, this is good because they just do not know when to give up. Do you agree?

You need this specifically in the field of sales.

It’s impossible to close a deal without doing a follow-up.

But, do understand that there’s a fine line between being persistent and being just plain annoying.

So how can we know if we are already being annoying to others?

Sometimes, we ourselves don’t notice it but we are already being an annoyance to others. A sign of this is when people start to avoid you. Whenever you are going to pass, all of a sudden people turn their backs on you, or suddenly disappear to go inside rooms or suddenly go to the toilet.

And then, every time you will strike a conversation with them, they will respond with, “Talk to me later! I’m busy!”

Being annoying causes pressure and stress to others.

We don’t ever want to get to a point where people are already starting to avoid us, especially our friends and families.

Let us pray and be sensitive, and examine ourselves if we are already being an annoyance to those around us.

THINK. REFLECT. APPLY.

What do you do whenever you encounter people who are persistent?

How about you, do you sometimes notice that you yourself are being persistent or being an annoyance to others?
