“I wish I had started earlier.”
“I wish I didn’t waste the opportunity.”
“I wish I had listened to my parents.”

Do you know of people who are living in regret?

There is nothing sadder than saying, “I should have…” and “I could have…” after everything has already been said and done. Life is too short for us to not make the most out of it.

The moments of this life pass quickly. We can’t afford to put off until tomorrow all of the things that we should be doing right now.

TOP THREE COMMON REGRETS IN LIFE:

NOT SAVING ENOUGH MONEY

When things are going well for us financially, we don’t bother saving because we think that our steady stream of income will go on forever. However, when we grow old, we have to realise that we would no longer be as strong as we are now, so it is highly likely that we will no longer be able to work.

Of course, when we don’t have work, we won’t be able to earn. If we don’t earn anything, then how will we be able to survive? We can’t just depend on the people around us. We owe it to our children to take care of us, but we are not their responsibility, especially if they already have their own families. This is why if we don’t save and prepare for our retirement, we will struggle to find where we will can get our living from.

Let’s save up so we can invest the last moments of our lives.

NOT TAKING CARE OF OUR HEALTH

I would always hear my parents tell me, “What would you do with that when you get old?” Different kinds of ailments, sickness, and aches that weren’t there before start to appear when we age. Sometimes, we fail to notice that we are already abusing our bodies. Just because we can, just because we don’t feel anything while we’re young, we keep going, we keep pushing our bodies to the limit. And then, before we know it, we’re already sick, and getting even sicker and sicker. If we want to prolong our lives, we need to take care of our bodies. The bodies that we have aren’t ours, but God’s. We need to take care of it.

NOT TAKING CARE OF OUR RELATIONSHIPS

When we are on our deathbeds, it’s not our bosses, colleagues, neighbours, circle of friends, business partners, or clients that will be with us to take care of us. The very people who will be with us to take care of us and nurse us are our spouse, children, parents, and siblings. The saddest part of being on your deathbed is when you look into their eyes and realise that you should have loved and valued them more than you did.

You should have spent more time with them, you should have showed them how important they were to you, you should have made them feel how much you loved them – and you should have realized all this back when you could still do something about it.

But it’s not yet too late.

For as long as you are still alive and breathing, you have the opportunity to right your wrongs, and do all of the things that you have to do. Don’t put off until tomorrow what you can do today. Now is the time! Not tomorrow, but today.

Tomorrow might be too late.

THINK. REFLECT. APPLY.

Have you started saving up?
What are you doing to take care of your health?
Are you giving importance to the relationships that you have with your family?
