11-year-old Katrina Cruz bags 4 Golds in Ice Skating competition in Indonesia

Eleven-year-old skater Katrina Amber Cruz won 4 Gold Medals at the Skate Indonesia Leg of the Ice Skating Institute Asia (ISIAsia) Championship Series 2019 held in Jakarta.

The young Filipina skater bagged her medals in 5 events – Technical, Footwork, Solo Compulsory, Rhythmic Ball, Surprise Event – at the Skate Indonesia competitions that drew some 400 skaters from Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, and the Philippines.

The 6th grade student at the Holy Family School of Quezon City trained under coaches Henry Dumaliang, Dave Alarcon, and Randy Anonuevo to represent SM International Mall of Asia at the 4th leg of the ISIAsia Championship Series 2019 held from October 24 to 27 at the OASIS Ice Rink Centre Arena ÆON Mall Jakarta Garden City.

  1. Technical(Gold)
  2. Footwork(Gold)
  3. Solo Comp(Gold)
  4. Rhythmic (Gold)
  5. Surprise (Silver)

In August, Katrina Cruz also won medals at Skate Bangkok. The Filipina skating champion will next compete in Skate Japan 2020.

More Filipina skaters have been winning medals in world competitions, among them the 7 golds of mother and daughter tandem of Patricia and Bianca Agunod at the Missouri World Championships, 12 golds from figure skaters at the Skate Japan, and the 6 golds from the Asian Junior Figure Skating Challenge held in Hong Kong.
