
Six Filipino dishes have once again put the Philippines on the global culinary map—this time, as some of the world’s top-rated offal dishes. In the May 2025 edition of TasteAtlas’ “Top 100 Offal Dishes in the World,” iconic Pinoy favorites landed impressive spots based on thousands of user ratings.
Batchoy, the Ilonggo noodle soup loaded with pork innards, topped the Filipino list at rank 16. Known for its rich broth and flavorful toppings of chicharon and raw egg, Batchoy received a 4.1-star rating.
Coming in at rank 22 is Isaw, which consists of grilled and skewered pork or chicken intestines marinated in a sweet-savory blend and dipped in vinegar. It earned 4 stars, reflecting its popularity as a go-to street snack, especially for Filipino students.
Proben, a crunchy snack made from deep-fried chicken proventriculus, followed at rank 29 with a 3.9-star rating. Commonly found in street markets, it’s a favorite among youth for its affordability and taste.
Bopis, a spicy sauté of pork or beef lungs and heart, ranked 44 with 3.7 stars. Served with rice or as a pulutan-style dish with drinks, it’s loved for its bold flavor and varied textures.
At rank 60, Dinuguan—a blood stew made with offal, vinegar, and spices—earned 3.6 stars. Known by many names across the regions, it remains a Filipino staple served with rice or puto.
Papaitan, a bitter soup made from goat or cow innards and bile, completed the Filipino entries at rank 75 with 3.5 stars. This Ilocano dish is praised for its strong, unique flavor and cultural roots.
TasteAtlas noted that the rankings were based on 7,984 user ratings, and emphasized that their lists aim to “promote excellent local foods, instill pride in traditional dishes, and arouse curiosity about dishes you haven’t tried.”
