An all-Pisay student team won the 2023 Philippine Chemistry Olympiad national competition and will be advancing to the global rounds of the International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) scheduled for July in Switzerland.

Philippine Science High School (PSHS) System students Lemuel A. Acosta (PSHS Central Luzon Campus), Kiersten Gene M. Calubaquib (PSHS Main Campus), Mohammad Nur G. Casib (PSHS Central Mindanao Campus), and Gelraycs Jules D. Fornan (PSHS SOCCSKSARGEN Campus) nabbed the gold medals at the Philippine National Chemistry Olympiad finals on March 11 and were announced on March 31 as the representatives of the country to the 55th IChO on July 16-25 in Zurich.

Acosta was also part of Team Philippines at last year’s global competition and won honorable mention honors at the 54th International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) hosted remotely from China.

The International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) is an annual competition for the world’s most talented chemistry students. Every year, nations around the world send a team of four who are tested on their chemistry knowledge and skills in a five-hour laboratory practical and five-hour written theoretical examination.

The Philippine Science High School System is the country’s premier science high school under the Department of Science and Technology (DOST).

SEND CONGRATULATIONS AND WELL WISHES to the all-Pisay student team, winners of the Chemistry Olympiad nationals, and Team Philippines at the 2023 IChO!
