The casts of Original Filipino Musicals “Ang Huling El Bimbo” and “Rak of Aegis” got together online to present the new original musical “Tatsulok: A Trilogy for Change” and call for unified action to address environmental issues.

The Tatsulok musical premiered on July 11, 2020, on Gabay Kalikasan’s Facebook page and YouTube channel and viewed by families and communities under community quarantine to stop the spread of coronavirus disease.

A total of 17 OPM singers and musical theater actors joined the pool of talents who recorded their parts from their homes while also under quarantine as well as on location in nature parks, brandishing messages of environmental concern, and showing how ordinary Filipinos can be part of the movement for change.

The Philippines’ musical theater icons featured on Tatsulok include “Ang Huling El Bimbo” stars Jon Santos, Oj Mariano, Jamie Wilson, Sheila Francisco, Bibo Reyes, Gab Pangilinan, Phi Palmos, Gian Magdangal, and Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo.

Tatsulok stars “Rak of Aegis” cast members Aicelle Santos, Kakai Bautista, Poppert Bernadas, and Joshua Bulot.

Also in the cast are Filipino singers Giob Rodriguez, Nicco Manalo, Anna Luna, and Via Antonio.

The hour-long musical show featured well-loved OPM songs such as Umagang Kay Ganda, Masdan Mo Ang Kapaligiran, Himig Natin, Anak, Pinoy Ako, Nais Ko, along with other international hit songs, and wrapped up with the Philippine National Anthem, the Lupang Hinirang.

The Filipino musical was conceptualized and written by Floy Quintos, directed by Dexter Santos, with Krina Cayabyab and Myke Salomon for the musical arrangement.

The environmental-themed musical was presented as part of PLDT-Smart’s sustainability program and championed holistic action to express love for the environment, the country, and the Creator with its tag line “Kalikasan. Bayan. Dios. Sabay Mahalin. Di puedeng paghiwalayin.”

Tatsulok follows the success of PLDT’s first-ever digital presentation of an all-original musical, Songs for A Changed World: COVID and Climate Change.

The lead stars of Ang Huling El Bimbo and Rak of Aegis were also featured in the recent all-Asian digital cover of RENT’s Seasons of Love.
