The original Filipino musical, “Ang Huling El Bimbo (AHEB)” based on the Eraserheads’ hit songs, is returning to the live stage for a homecoming concert at the Newport Performing Arts Theater of Resorts World Manila.
The first live concert at the Newport theater since the COVID-19 pandemic hit the Philippines is based on the AHEB hit musical originally staged from 2018 to 2019.
The songs by the Eraserheads’ Ely Buendia and bandmates Raymund Marasigan, Buddy Zabala, and Marcus Adoro while they were still students and dorm residents at the University of the Philippines Diliman were given new life and context in AHEB The Musical.
Ang Huling El Bimbo: The Musical tells the story of a university friendship between Joy, Hector, Anthony (or AJ), and Emman and how a tragedy brought them back together in later years.
AHEB: The Concert features the original musical’s cast members Reb Atadero, Carla Guevara-Laforteza, Tanya Manalang, OJ Mariano, Phi Palmos, Gab Pangilinan, Bibo Reyes, Vic Robinson, and Sheila Francisco.
The AHEB Concert will have the Manila Philharmonic Orchestra performing the iconic 90s band’s music, with direction by Jamie Wilson, choreography by Fritz Esase, and writing by original cast member Menchu Lauchengco Yulo.
Ang Huling El Bimbo: The Concert will be staged on December 10, 2021, at 8pm. KTX Philippines will also be streaming the concert on December 12.
Show tickets are available at rwmanila.com/AngMulingElBimbo and Ticketworld.
Only those fully vaccinated ages 13 years old and up are accepted inside Newport Performing Arts Theater. Health and safety protocols will be strictly observed.
