Beliefs When Opening a Business
Butz Bartolome shares business advice.

In many cultures, including Chinese culture, there are a number of beliefs and practices that people follow when opening a new business. Some of these include:

  1. Choosing an auspicious date and time. Many people believe that the date and time at which a business opens can affect its success. Therefore, they may consult with a feng shui expert or a Chinese astrologer to choose an auspicious date and time for the opening.
  2. Performing rituals or ceremonies. Many people believe that performing certain rituals or ceremonies can help to bring good luck and prosperity to a new business. This may include lighting incense, offering prayers, or making offerings to the gods and ancestors.
  3. Using feng shui principles. Many people believe that incorporating feng shui principles into the design and layout of a business can help to create a positive flow of energy and attract customers. For example, they may choose to place a water feature at the entrance or to use certain colors and symbols in the decor.
  4. Choosing a lucky name. Many people believe that the name of a business can affect its success. Therefore, they may consult with a feng shui expert or a Chinese astrologer to choose a name that is considered to be lucky or auspicious
  5. Seeking blessings from ancestors and deities. Many people believe that seeking blessings from ancestors and deities can help to bring good luck and prosperity to a new business. They may perform rituals or ceremonies to seek blessings from their ancestors or the gods and goddesses of wealth and success.
  6. Offering red envelopes. Many people will offer red envelopes filled with money as a symbolic gift to the gods and deities, as a way of expressing gratitude and seeking blessings for the new business. It’s important to note that not everyone follows these practices and beliefs, and some may not believe in them at all. Ultimately, it’s a personal choice based on personal belief.
