Bohol’s Vanessa Sarno bagged three gold medals for the Philippines on the sixth day of the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) Online Youth World Cup organized by Lima, Peru.

The 17-year-old Sarno won her gold medals in the women’s 71 kilogram contest of the youth weightlifting world event held online for the first time from November 11 to 18, 2020, with more than 400 athletes from 62 participating countries.

The Asian Youth medalist swept three events in the women’s 71 kilograms category with a total of 211kg (gold), 93kg in Snatch (gold), and 118kg in Clean & Jerk (gold).

The Philippines has earned a total of four golds, three silvers, and one bronze medal in the IWF online meet including those earlier won by sisters Rose Jean and Rosegie Ramos.

Vanessa Sarno raised the Philippine flag in North Korea with 2 gold medals and a silver at the Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships last year while Filipina weightlifting champion Hidilyn Diaz is expected to enter Tokyo 2021 Olympic Games.
