Creamline has made history again by clinching their 8th Premier Volleyball League (PVL) title with a dramatic come-from-behind victory over Choco Mucho.

The intense match held at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City saw the Cool Smashers triumph 20-25, 25-20, 22-25, 25-22, 15-11, in front of a record crowd of 23,162 fans on May 12, 2024.

Despite trailing 1-2 in sets, Creamline showcased their experience and resilience, pulling off a comeback that left the Flying Titans unable to respond.

The Cool Smashers’ determination was evident as they surged ahead in the final set, with Bernadette Pons delivering crucial back-to-back hits to bring them to match point.

Alyssa Valdez’s powerful serve forced an overset from Choco Mucho’s Deanna Wong, leading to a decisive putaway by Bea de Leon.

The victory ignited jubilant celebrations among the players and their fans, highlighting Creamline’s dominance in the league with their third straight and fourth All-Filipino Conference crown.

Coach Sherwin Meneses praised his players’ dedication and teamwork, stating, “Our players give 110 percent in training, never tiring even during our three-hour sessions. The game is always there and it’s all thanks to the players, not us coaches.” He emphasized the importance of collective effort, adding, “It’s all about teamwork, everyone plays a part. Whatever one does, everyone else follows suit.”

Jema Galanza, who played a crucial role with 20 points, shared credit with her teammates. “I can see in the eyes of my teammates the determination to win this game,” she said. Reflecting on their journey, she added, “It’s truly an overwhelming feeling because we never expected to make it to the finals. Actually, we struggled even in the semifinals. But here we are, champions once again.”

Bernadette Pons contributed 17 points, Tots Carlos added 16, and Pangs Panaga scored 13, with De Leon and Michele Gumabao each contributing seven points. Galanza and Pons also excelled defensively, with Galanza recording 16 excellent receptions and Pons adding 15 receptions and 9 digs.

For Choco Mucho, Sisi Rondina led with 31 points, Royse Tubino added 20, and Cherry Nunag scored 14. Despite their efforts, they couldn’t overcome Creamline’s formidable performance.

Creamline has powered the Philippine Women’s Volleyball National Team at the Asian Women’s Cup and ASEAN Grand Prix.
