The Philippine adaptation of Korean hit series Descendants of the Sun has been scheduled to stream on Netflix.
GMA Network announced that its award-winning remake TV series top-billed by Kapuso network’s powerhouse actors Dingdong Dantes and Jennylyn Mercado will premiere on the online streaming site starting November.
Viewers would be able to access the Descendants of the Sun PH episodes per batch on eight consecutive Fridays starting November 13, 2020.
Following is the schedule of Descendants of the Sun PH on Netflix:
November 13 – Episodes 1-30
November 20 — Episodes 31-35
November 27 — Episodes 36-40
December 4 — Episodes 41-45
December 11 — Episodes 46-50
December 18 — Episodes 51-55
December 25 — Episodes 56-60
January 1 — Episodes 61-65
The original South Korean Drama production of Descendants of the Sun aired in 2016 and starred Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo.
The local adaptation’s pilot episode premiered in February 2020 as part of GMA Network’s 70th-anniversary offering and made the top trending topic on social media after capturing the hearts of the Filipino audience.
Just this September, the Kapuso TV series was recognized as the “Most Popular Foreign Drama” at the 15th Seoul International Drama Awards.
Dantes also won the Asian Star Prize for portraying the lead character in the series, Captain Lucas Manalo also known as Big Boss.
The show was put on hold for six months due to community quarantine. The team recently finished filming its remaining episodes via lock-in taping and is scheduled to return on primetime TV on October 26.
