Popular actress and celebrity endorser Dimples Romana has promoted the wearing of Philippine-made reusable face masks on her social media.

The 35-year-old ABS-CBN Kapamilya star who made it to the top trending topic and viral memes online because of her now-iconic kontrabida role, Daniela Mondragon, in the afternoon soap opera “Kadenang Ginto”, responded to the #WearAMask challenge from TV host-author Daphne Oseña Paez.

The #WearAMask challenge has been going on social media for quite some time now since the health care community and government agencies released protocols to stop the spread of the coronavirus disease.

This is also to prevent the public to get infection in case they need to go outside their homes for important errands amid lockdown.

For Dimples, however, instead of just using a usual type of face mask, the award-winning actress decided to promote those made of native textiles from Cordillera to help the local weaves and entrepreneurs from the region.

“Naisip ko, para makatulong sa ating mga lokal at mga nagsisimulang negosyo, tuwing Huwebes mag-post ako ng mga produktong gawang Pinoy, mga bagay na tunay na maipagmamalaki nating gawang atin,” Dimples said on her Instagram post that came with a video where she presented the colorful native face masks and bandanas.

“Heto ang ilan sa mga mask, bandana at turban na gawa ng ating mga kababayan sa Kalinga at Sagada mula sa @tindahannidenzio dun ko ito mga nabili,” the country’s tourism advocate volunteer continued.

Using a native face mask not only helps the buyer to lessen the chances of getting infected, but it also benefits the local artisans in their livelihood and helps the local art, heritage, and economy as a whole. Philippine-made face masks are reusable and environmentally-friendly.

Dimples also further encouraged her social media followers by saying: “Kaya natin ito! Bangon tayo, tulong tulong.”

“Wearing a mask means we care for those around us especially the ones who are most vulnerable to COVID-19. Let’s all be responsible and look out for one another. To save lives, wear your mask properly, practice physical distancing, wash your hands,” Dimples concluded.

To further spread the awareness about the importance of wearing face masks and to promote local products, the celebrity mother nominated her friends Tourism Sec. Berna Romulo-Puyat, fellow actresses Julia Montes and Kathryn Bernardo, Mompreneur Janice Villanueva, Miss International 2015 Precious Lara Quigaman, and ace Pinay photographer Shaira Luna to do the same.
