De La Salle University (DLSU) celebrates its 50th anniversary as a university by transforming its Laguna Campus into a hub for innovation and sustainability, reimagining how learning happens to create leaders for tomorrow.
“At DLSU, we are reimagining how learning happens,” said Prof. Jonathan Rivera Dungca, Vice President for Laguna Campus. “Now, the focus is on finding solutions to real-world problems in collaborative, agile spaces. Innovation and sustainability are essential pillars that shape our vision. Through sustainable practices, groundbreaking curricula, and state-of-the-art academic programs, we aim to cultivate a community of innovators dedicated to creating positive change through knowledge and collaboration.”
The campus transformation centers on building an innovation ecosystem — spaces where entrepreneurs, startups, researchers, and stakeholders collaborate to turn ideas into products, services, or solutions.
Strategic Developments in Campus Infrastructure
DLSU Laguna has invested in major infrastructure upgrades to support its mission. The newly inaugurated University Hall offers modern learning spaces equipped with advanced technologies in lighting, acoustics, and integrated systems.
Other key facilities include:
-
Enrique K. Razon Jr. Hall: Home to the Enrique K. Razon Logistics Institute, specializing in supply chain management and transportation.
-
Evelyn D. Ang Hall: Houses the Institute of Biomedical Engineering and Health Technologies, supporting healthcare research and hands-on learning.
Research Pods, flexible container-van laboratories, have also been introduced to foster student and faculty research.
Commitment to Sustainability
Sustainability is deeply integrated into the Laguna Campus’ operations. DLSU is pursuing LEED certification for University Hall and Enrique K. Razon Jr. Hall. Green initiatives include energy- and water-saving building features, electric jeepneys for transport, improved waste management systems, paperless workflows, and bicycle-friendly environments. Future plans include integrating more green open spaces for biodiversity.
“These are deliberate steps to embed sustainable thinking into the everyday life of the campus,” added Dungca. “We want students to experience what it means to live and learn in a sustainable community.”

Academic Programs for a Changing World
The School of Innovation and Sustainability (SIS) leads DLSU Laguna’s push for progressive education through challenge-based learning, where students tackle real-world problems with industry and government.
New academic programs introduced include:
-
Computer Studies: Bachelor of Science in Data Science
-
Engineering: Programs in Industrial Engineering (Data Analytics), Aeronautical Engineering, Mobility Engineering, and Electrical Engineering
-
Business and Economics: Programs in Financial Engineering and Applied Economics and Data Science
-
Sustainability and Law: Bachelor of Science in Materials Science and Science Engineering, and Bachelor of Arts in Legal Studies and Sustainable Development (in partnership with Rufino Campus)
Future Plans: The KIST Park
DLSU Laguna will soon launch the Knowledge, Innovation, Science, and Technology (KIST) Park — a development featuring R&D spaces, business incubators, and facilities for startups and corporate partners. Supported by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA), the KIST Park aims to solidify DLSU’s role in driving the innovation economy of the Philippines.
“Our responsibility is to shape futures, not just for our students, but for the industries and communities they will impact. That starts right here,” shared Dungca.
With its focus on sustainability, innovation, and transformative learning, DLSU Laguna is shaping a new blueprint for the university of the future.
