Fil-Am actress Isa Briones plays key role in new TV series Star Trek Picard

Filipino-American actress Isa Briones is set to play a key role in the new television series Star Trek: Picard.

Isa Briones will portray the role of Dahj in the new series that explores the next chapter of Captain Jean-Luc Picard’s life after the events of the final Star Trek: The Next Generation feature film and Star Trek: Nemesis (2002).

The Filipino actress was recently introduced together with Star Trek cast Patrick Stewart, Brent Spiner, Alison Pill, Santiago Cabrera, among others, during the ‘Picard’ panel at the 2019 San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) where Filipino superheroine “Darna” was introduced as a Funko Pop toy.

The announcement was also made by Isa’s father, musical theatre and TV star Jon Jon Briones, on social media.

The 20-year-old singer and actress had previously joined the touring cast of Hamilton in 2018 and was recognized as the youngest actor to play a lead role in the hit musical that stars Filipino-American actor Marc dela Cruz in the lead role.

Isa Briones, who won the 2018 Ovation Award for her role Natalie in the Next to Normal musical, will be seen in the Star Trek series ‘Picard’ in early 2020.
