Fil-Am is new franchise owner of Miss Supranational USA

Miss Universe 2017 preliminary judge, Cecilio “Cece” Asuncion, is now the new national director and franchise owner of Miss Supranational USA.

The Miss Supranational USA website announced the appointment of Cece Asuncion, a well-known Filipino American modeling agency director and television producer.

He is also known for his support to the LGBT community as the founder of Slay Models, an agency that manages transgender talents.

Asuncion began his entertainment career as director and producer of “What’s the T?” – a documentary about the lives of transgender women in New York and San Francisco. The film was screened in multiple film festivals in the United States and around the world.

Together with his partners Joshua Jones and Brian Anderson in Thigh High Productions, Asuncion co-created “Sayaw,” a film about Philippine folk dance.

Miss Supranational is a beauty pageant established in Poland almost 10 years ago. The pageant eventually became popular overseas and was adopted by the US industry. The current title holder is Jenny Kim from Korea.

“I am very excited to work with such amazing person. Cece is not only person experienced in modeling and television production, he is also open-minded visionary,” said Gerhard Parzutka von Lipinski of Nowa Scena, producer of the annual Big5 pageant.

Asuncion has been recognized for his outstanding leadership, receiving the 2017 GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Reality Series, and the STRUT 2013 Outstanding Filipino American Award for LGBT advocacy.
