Filipino-American rapper Apl.de.ap and his Grammy award-winning group The Black Eyed Peas are being honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The Black Eyed Peas is the latest musical group to join 37 honorees selected by the Los Angeles attraction as part of its 2022 class, the organization announced on June 17, 2021.

The musical act composed of Pampanga-born musician Apl.de.ap, rappers will.i.am, Taboo, and fellow Fil-Am artist J. Rey Soul, is known worldwide for chart-topping hits, including “Where is the Love,” “Hey Mama,” “Bebot,” and “My Humps,” among others.

The Black Eyed Peas join fellow recording industry stalwarts Avril Lavigne, George Clinton Jr., Ashanti, DJ Khaled, Martha Reeves, and Los Huracanes Del Norte while Rapper Nipsey Hussle will be honored posthumously.

The Hollywood Walk of Fame inductees are chosen by the Walk of Fame Selection Panel of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce from hundreds of nominations.

“The Panel did an amazing job choosing these very talented people. We can’t wait to see each honoree’s reaction as they realize that they are becoming a part of Hollywood’s history with the unveiling of their star on the world’s most famous walkway!” said Chair and Walk of Famer Ellen K.

Dates have not yet been scheduled for the star ceremonies for the Walk of Fame Class of 2022.

The Black Eyed Peas has been awarded 8 American Music Awards, two Billboard Music Awards, and six Grammys.

Filipino international music star rapper Apl de ap of The Black Eyed Peas, whose full name is Allan Pineda Lindo, has become known for his philanthropy. He suffered blindness growing up in the Philippines and moved to the United States after being adopted.

Apl.de.ap recently teamed up with Los Angeles’ HiFi Kitchen for a fundraising event featuring his family’s adobo recipe to benefit typhoon relief efforts in the Philippines, has been a long-time champion of causes such as education scholarships, saving babies from blindness, and preventing anti-Asian discrimination and hate crimes in the United States.
