Filipina Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach will serve as one of the judges in the finale of the Miss South Africa 2021 pageant in October.
The pageant and Wurtzbach announced the beauty queen’s participation in the upcoming pageant in an Instagram post on October 6, 2021.
“Join me on the 16th of October at 17:00 PM (SAST) Live from the Grand Arena @grandwessat. I am on the official selection panel of the Miss South Africa 2021 Finale which will be broadcasted Live on Mnet & Mzansi Magic,” Pia Wurtzbach said in her social media post.
The beauty queen invited her fans to watch her and fellow Filipina Miss Universe titleholder Catriona Gray, who will serve as the pre-show and backstage host in the competition on October 16.
The third Filipina to win the Miss Universe crown in 2015 joins this year’s all-female selection panel at the Miss South Africa pageant including reigning Miss Universe Andrea Meza, former Miss South Africa title holders Basetsana Kumalo and Tamaryn Green, and other television personalities.
Speaking on her appointment as a Miss South Africa judge and her advice for the top 10 finalists of the pageant, Pia Wurtzbach said: “You are you and that is your superpower. I know it’s easier said than done, but I think it’s so important to remind yourself to let the real you shine, instead of trying to portray someone on stage who you think the people and the selection panel want to see.
“You are part of the Top 10 for a reason. Embrace that. Having been in pageantry for quite a while made me realise that what’s inside of you matters just as much as what the audience is seeing on the stage.”
