Filipina women World Space Week
Women in Space is the theme for the Philippines’ celebration of the World Space Week 2021.

Filipina women working in the space sector are in the spotlight during the Philippines’ celebration of World Space Week.

The Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA) events for the week-long observation scheduled for October 4-10, 2021, highlight efforts to advance gender equity and inclusivity in the space sector and showcase the achievements of space enthusiasts in solving real-world problems using space data.

The World Space Week is the largest annual international space event proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly in 1999. It begins every 4th of October to mark the launch of Sputnik 1 in 1957 as the first artificial satellite in orbit. The annual celebration ends every 10th of October to commemorate the signing of the Treaty on Principles Governing the Activities of States in the Exploration and Peaceful Uses of Outer Space, including the Moon and Other Celestial Bodies in 1967.
