Filipino-American singers Olivia Rodrigo and Bruno Mars have won major awards at this year’s American Music Awards (AMAs).

The Billboard Charts-topping Olivia Rodrigo bagged her first-ever AMA recognition as “New Artist of the Year”.

Multiple Grammy winner Bruno Mars‘ collaboration with American artist Anderson .Paak as the Silk Sonic duo won “Favorite R&B Song” for their debut single, “Leave The Door Open”.

Rodrigo and Mars were among the winners revealed at the awards event which aired live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, U.S.A. on November 21, 2021 (November 22, Manila time).

Hosted by American rapper Cardi B, the star-studded show featured performances from BTS with Coldplay, Rodrigo, Tyler the Creator, Måneskin, Walker Hayes, Mickey Guyton, and Bad Bunny, among others.

The American Music Awards is the world’s largest fan-voted awards show that celebrates the latest and greatest talents of the contemporary music scene.

Fellow Fil-Am artists Saweetie and H.E.R. also bagged nominations in the AMAs.
