Filipino BL series “Gaya sa Pelikula” starts streaming on Netflix

Filipino Boys’ Love (BL) series “Gaya Sa Pelikula” of Globe Studios is joining the list of local content available on Netflix starting January 2021.

The web series’ lead actors Paolo Pangilinan and Ian Pangilinan announced the good news during the special question and answer video posted on the streaming site’s Facebook page on December 21, 2020.

“We’re excited to tell you that you can watch, re-watch, and press replay on all your favorite scenes very, very soon,” Ian excitedly shared on the video.

Then, he and Paolo simultaneously announced that: “Gaya sa Pelikula is coming out in Netflix this January 7.”

The popular Pinoy BL series written by poet-film writer Juan Miguel Severo and directed by JP Habac premiered on YouTube on September 25 and had its run until November 20.

It follows the story of 19-year-old Karl (played by Paolo Pangilinan), a working student who was forced to accept his neighbor Vlad (played by Ian Pangilinan) as his roommate in exchange for cash so he could pay for the apartment rental fee.

Gaya sa Pelikula follows the success of another Pinoy BL series, the award-winning Gameboys starring Kokoy De Santos and Elijah Canlas which is available for streaming starting December this year.
