The country’s hip-hop dance crew, Team Package Makers (TPM), made history as the first team from the Philippines to win the Worldwide Stage Uniting Performers (WSUP) competition in China.
The 20-member Pinoy group outperformed 30 other crews from across Asia and was crowned champion in the Adult Category of the competition held on August 15, 2025, in Changsha City, Hunan Province.
The Manila-based dance group shared the good news on their Facebook page on August 17, celebrating their victory in the recently concluded international dance competition.
The all-male Filipino dance troupe captivated both the audience and eight judges with a polished, world-class routine infused with distinctly Pinoy humor, showcased through doble kara—a comic performance style in which a performer plays two characters at once, often male and female, by dressing each half of the body differently.
With their synchronized moves, balanced display of masculine and feminine energy, and powerful stage presence, the team earned a staggering combined score of 96%—the highest among competing teams—securing the championship title.
In a recent Facebook post, TPM expressed gratitude to everyone who supported them on their journey to the competition and victory.
“Our win was made possible by hundreds of names and faces — and for that, we thank you! [Purple Heart and Package emojis]” the group shared.
TMP took home a plaque and a cash prize of CNY100,000—equivalent to at least PHP796,000.
In 2024, the Filipino dance crew also emerged champion in Singapore’s premier dance competition, Super 24.
