Filipino dance crews VPeepz, The Peepz, and Legit Status brought honor and pride to the Philippines as top finalists at the 2022 World Hip Hop Dance Championship held in Arizona, USA.
The Philippine representatives entered the Final Round of their respective divisions in the four-day competition held at the Arizona Grand Resort & Spa in Phoenix which wrapped up on August 13 (August 14 Philippine time).
The Pinoy Pride dance teams in world hip hop were led by VPeepz, who almost bagged a medal with their top 4 finish. The NBC World Of Dance Division Champions competed at the JV Mega Crew Division with over 20 contestants. This group included a bunch of girls and boys ages seventeen and younger.
The Peepz of the UPeepz dance company, the back-to-back champions of the same competition, finished at rank 6th in the Adult Division with 44 contestants in total. Their signature one-song routine marked the comeback of their troupe in the competition with Doja Cat’s ‘Woman’.
Legit Status, a top 3 winner in the world championships and the former troupe of now-Congressman Arjo Atayde, bagged the 8th spot in the Varsity Division with over 45 contestants. This batch is the first all-girls lineup of Legit Status for the Varsity Division.
Another Pinoy representative at the world championships was the Sayawatha Dance Troupe which finished 16th at the Prelims and 18th at the Semis.
The World Hip Hop Dance Championship, organized by Hip Hop International (HHI), is a culmination of National qualifications among HHI affiliate countries. For HHI Philippines, the representatives were determined last May 14, 2022, with the conclusion of the 2022 Philippine Hip Hop Dance Championship.
Both The Peepz and VPeepz are under one dance company called UPeepz, the semi-finalists of NBC’s World Of Dance Season 4.
Legit Status on the other hand is a variety show staple performing dance routines with celebrities like Maja Salvador, Darren Espanto, and AC Bonifacio.
Hip Hop International Philippines took to social media to congratulate and thank the delegation that represented the country.
