Filipino racer Eduardo Coseteng is set to make history as the first Pinoy to compete in the Formula 4 British Championship certified by the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA).

Britain’s FIA Formula 4 series announced Coseteng’s historic feat on March 19, 2021.

Coseteng will join Peru’s Matias Zagazeta and Australian Marcos Flack to complete the Argenti Motorsport team line-up for the 2021 edition of the United Kingdom’s premier single-seater series.

“I’m pleased to be racing with Argenti Motorsport. They’ve been fantastic with me during our initial tests together, and we’re making some good progress. I can’t wait to get the season started in May. Lakas ng Pinoy!” Coseteng said.

Eduardo Coseteng is the son of the Filipino multiple touring car champion, Jody Coseteng.

The 17-year-old karting graduate is a front-runner in British, European, and World competitions, including winning the Macau International Kart Grand Prix in 2019.

“After some great years in karting, I’m excited to be making the move into single-seater racing for the first time this season. British F4 is a brilliant series and I’m looking forward to joining the grid,” adds Coseteng.

“We’re really pleased to have Eduardo joining Argenti Motorsport this season,” said Team Principal, Michael Meadows. “He’s got a great karting pedigree and has shown some really impressive pace and progress during his tests with us in recent months.”

The Formula 4 British Championship is widely regarded as one of the most competitive junior single-seater championships in the world.

The Manila-based racer will make his British Formula 4 debut when the season begins in May 2021.

Filipino racers gaining world recognition include Mark Bernales of Cagayan de Oro City who won First Place Overall in the premier Individual Category at the Asia Auto Gymkhana Championship held in South Korea in 2019 and Jacob Ang who won the overall crowns in the Formula 125 Sr. Open and the X30 SR classes of the Asian Karting Open Championship at the Kartodrome de Coloane Circuit in Macau.
