Filipino reality star Bretman Rock has won the first-ever Breakthrough Social Star award in this year’s MTV Movie & TV Awards and dedicated his win to members of the Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) community.

Rock bested fellow nominees Addison Rae, Charli D’Amelio, Jalaiah Harmon, and Ricky Thompson.

The famous beauty vlogger is the star of his own digital reality show, “MTV Following: Bretman Rock” which features Pinoy culture and Rock’s life in Hawaii.

During his acceptance speech in the MTV Movie & TV Awards: Unscripted live ceremony, Bretman Rock celebrated his AAPI heritage and dedicated the award to the LGBTQ+ community.

“Hey guys, I’ve never prepared a speech before,” he began, “so what I’m about to say is… unscripted, or whatever,” Bretman Rock said.

“This award is for all the Asian Americans who [believe] in me, all the Pacific Islanders, and most importantly, this is for all the LGBTQ community,” Rock added.

Bretman Rock also thanked his fans and talked about his recent victory via Instagram on May 18, 2021.

“Thank you for watching this islander boy grow up on the internet! We have a long way to go and I’m excited to see where I go,” Bretman Rock wrote.

The MTV Movie & TV Awards: Unscripted is an awards show that celebrates the best moments in reality television and the people who made them possible.

Filipino YouTube sensation Bretman Rock is one of the most followed influencers in the world with a huge social media fanbase of over 15 million Instagram followers and 8 million subscribers on YouTube.

Rock was earlier voted the “Beauty Influencer of the Year” by E! People’s Choice Awards in 2019.
