Popular Filipino-Spanish singer-songwriter Enrique Iglesias was honored at the recently concluded Billboard Latin Music Awards.

Enrique Iglesias, the youngest child of Spanish crooner Julio Iglesias Sr. and Filipina journalist Isabela Preysler, had popularized the songs “Hero,” “Bailamos,” “Tonight,” and more.

The multi-awarded singer-actor was named as the Top Latin Artist of All Time on October 21, 2020, for his contribution to the music industry for more than 25 years and for being the most awarded artist in the history of Billboard Latin Music Awards.

The 45-year-old artist of Spanish-American-Filipino descent received the award during the ceremonies held at BB&T Center in Sunrise, Florida, U.S.A.

American rapper Pitbull presented the highly esteemed award to the Latin pop singer and described him as “a writer, composer, singer, performer. He’s a living legend and it’s a true honor to call him my friend and my dog. He is music.”

Iglesias admitted that he did not prepare a speech but continued to express his appreciation and gratitude.

“If I get confused, I’m sorry,” Enrique said in Spanish. “But I want to thank the Billboard Latin Music Awards for an incredible award.

The Latin hitmaker continued: “I want to thank my friend Pitbull. I want everyone who is here tonight to have a good time.

“I also want to tell all of my fans thank you for everything in the passage of my career. I miss you so much, and to all of you who are watching from home, take care,” Enrique concluded.

To date, Iglesias has won a total of 47 awards from the annual Billboard Latin Music Awards.

In 2019, the singer-songwriter also bagged five nominations at the Premio Lo Nuestro (Our Thing) Awards for three songs he released in 2018.

Enrique joins the list of globally recognized singers with Filipino roots who received recognition amidst the ongoing pandemic.

Filipino-American Gabriella Wilson, more popularly known as H.E.R., snagged the Video for Good award at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs).

Filipino-American singer and Original Pilipino Music (OPM) icon Martin Nievera was included in the new set of luminaries recognized by The Outstanding Filipinos in America (TOFA).
