Ben&Ben’s first international song “Doors” will be performed at the launch of their new COVID-19 response fundraiser.

The National Geographic (NatGeo) Asia #PlanetorPlastic Ambassadors surprised their fans with the early release of the song’s lyric video that premiered on YouTube on April 16, 2020. The song quickly trended on Twitter as soon as it was released.

The group is set to perform the song live for the first time on their YouTube channel on April 18 at 7 pm. The event also serves as the launching party of their new fundraising efforts to battle COVID-19.

The 9-member band wrote on Facebook, “Surprise! We’re pretty excited about this one #BenAndBenDOORS”

“It is the band’s most favorite so far. quite sad but hopeful. mga feelings natin this quarantine. it will be our first international single,” Ben&Ben first announced on April 11 about their new song.

After the surprise release, netizens shared their own understanding of the song’s message.

Ben&Ben retweeted @iluvvnuggetsss:
“doors by ben&ben explains the fear of opening up to someone and the feeling that u are able to find someone that never gets tired of hearing u, never stops understanding u even in your darkest thoughts & worst moments.”

“Doors by Ben&Ben I think is telling us to be open to people we trust and stop acting like they can read your minds, work together to have a stronger relationship. No more of your secret doors. Such beauty ❤️,” @blurryvsion shared.

Ben&Ben climbed to the 29th spot on the week of April 11, 2020, up from its previous ranking at 48th spot on the Global Billboard Social 50 Chart. Ben&Ben overtook U.S. artists such as Cardi B and Doja Cat and international artists Lali, Tomorrow X Together on the Billboard Social 50 Chart that ranks the most active musical artists on social media.

Last March 27, the indie folk-pop Filipino band raised over 2.7 million pesos within an hour in a Facebook Live concert for the Puhon.ph efforts to support frontliners in the fight against the coronavirus disease.

The group’s “Sa Susunod na Habangbuhay” song, also quickly went trending on social media on February 27, the day of its release, with netizens sharing messages of positivity.
