Miss Philippines Patricia Anne Nichole Bangug made history by winning the first-ever Miss Orient Tourism Global pageant held in Malaysia.
A registered nurse raised in La Union with roots in Pangasinan, Bangug stood out among candidates from various countries and emerged victorious in the inaugural edition of the international competition.
She proudly secured the Miss Orient Tourism Global 2025 crown and title for the Philippines during the grand coronation night held in Kuala Lumpur on May 23, 2025.
Aside from delivering a strong performance in all segments, the newly crowned Ilocana beauty queen cemented her victory by excelling in the question-and-answer portion.
When asked how she would balance the responsibilities of being a titleholder while promoting her country’s beauty and unique culture, Bangug gave a heartfelt and inspiring response:
“As Miss Orient Tourism Global, I’m not just a representative. I’m a movement. With every step I make, I carry the stories of my culture, the strength of my people, and a vision for a world where tourism uplifts, connects, and transforms.”
She went on by expressing what the crown means to her.
“I will become the bridge that connects cultures, inspires understanding, and celebrates global unity. Becoming the titleholder and the representative of the Philippines is not actually a challenge—it is an honor,” she said.
“And I know that, together with this organization, we can inspire everyone to promote our vibrant culture, our rich heritage, and our warm hospitality. Because, after all, the crown is not just a symbol—it is a responsibility. And I am ready to wear it with purpose, power, and passion. Terima kasih. Thank you so much,” the Pinay beauty queen concluded.
In addition to winning the crown, Bangug also took home the Best in National Costume award for her Sampaguita-inspired ensemble, designed by Glennze Mark Taguiang Aquino and Lewis Zarsate.
With her successful stint in Malaysia, Bangug now joins the list of Filipinas who have brought honor to the Philippines in international pageants this year.
In February, Dia Mate of Cavite was crowned Reina Hispanoamericana in Bolivia, followed by Alexie Caimoso Brooks of Iloilo, who won the Miss Eco International title in Egypt this April.
