Iloilo filmmaker Elvert Banares is Best Cinematography nominee in Alternative Film Festival Canada

Iloilo filmmaker Elvert Banares’ short film “No Flower in the Afternoon” bagged a Best Cinematography nomination from the Alternative Film Festival (AltFF) Canada.

Banares, founder of CineKasimanwa film festival and Sandaan sa Visayas Festival Director, was shortlisted in the AltFF official nominees for the Spring Quarter Awards announced March 19.

The Visayas film director posted on social media how he captured the shots and scenarios of his short film using only a camera from a cellular phone.

“The nomination shows we need not have expensive equipment to visually tell a story,” the iloilo and Manila-based filmmaker wrote on his Facebook page.
