Filipina CEO Carmina Bayombong of InvestEd has won the Cartier Women’s Initiative Impact Award for empowering under-resourced youth in the Philippines.
The 2019 South Asia and Oceania laureate of the Cartier Women’s Initiative was named the second-place winner in the Creating Opportunities category in this year’s Impact Awards ceremony held in Dubai.
The InvestED co-founder is among the nine former fellows of the luxury brand’s initiative who were honored for the extraordinary impact that their businesses have achieved over the years.
Bayombong’s Makati City-based InvestED student loan service prioritizes poor and low-income students in the country to provide them access to quality education and better opportunities. Investors are also given the opportunity to support deserving students who wish to finish their degrees.
The Filipino-founded startup has its own credit rating and risk-control algorithm for lending to financially disadvantaged youth in the Philippines.
The Cartier Women’s Initiative Impact Award comes with a grant to support a woman-led and impact-driven business. This year’s awards cover three categories, including Improving Lives, Preserving the Planet, and Creating Opportunities, which are based on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs).
Winners were announced at the Impact Awards ceremony during the Cartier Women’s Initiative 15th Anniversary Celebration and World Reunion in Dubai on March 6, 2022.
Bayombong was earlier featured in the “Leaders of Tomorrow” Generation T (Gen.T) List 2020 and the Forbes “30 Under 30 Asia 2021” list. Her work has also won multiple awards including The Philippines Outstanding Women in Nation’s Service and Dubai World Expo’s Top 120 Global Innovators, among others.
