Filipino champion martial artist James De Los Santos is the first eKata player to breach the 26-point mark while picking up his 17th gold medal.

De Los Santos scored over 26 for the first time when he won the Katana Intercontinental League #3 on October 26, 2020.

The karate champion bested Costa Rica’s Juan Achio for the gold after defeating Slovenia in the semifinals and Morocco in the Quarterfinals. The Filipino athlete received the highest score in a tie with Portugal in the first round of the tournament.

De Los Santos credited his kata coach, Masa Saito, for his record-breaking win. He also congratulated his MKKPI student, Julia Ian Marcos, for winning the bronze in the women’s senior eKata category.

James De Los Santos climbed to the World No. 1 ranking in eKata after winning 15 gold medals in online tourneys held from April to October.

SEND CONGRATULATIONS in the comments below to James De Los Santos for being the first eKata player to breach the 26-point mark.
