Jericho Rosales-starrer Basurero competes in Busan film festival

Basurero, a short film starring Jericho Rosales, is competing at the 2019 Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) in South Korea.

The 17-minute film by Eileen Cabiling is screening in Busan for the Asian Short Film Competition of the 24th Annual BIFF held in Haeundae-gu,

The screening is also the World Premiere of the 2018 film where Rosales portrays the role of “Bong”, a poor fisherman who is being paid to dump bodies in the sea waters.

Actress Althea Vega, who plays “Luce”, wife to Rosales’ Bong, is in Busan with director Cabiling to represent the film produced by Globe Studios.

  • October 8th (Tuesday) | CGV Centum City 3 | 19:00 pm
  • October 10th (Thursday) | MEGABOX Jangsan Haeundae 5 | 16:00 pm

The Film Development Council of the Philippines presented and sent off the Filipino films on showcase in Busan during its run from October 3-12, 2019.

Another Filipino film is competing in Busan this week. John Denver Trending is competing in the New Currents section.

The 24th BIFF is also featuring Filipino films in non-competition screenings including the Philippines’ bet to the 2020 Oscars, “Verdict” by Raymund Ribay Gutierrez.

Also screening is “Lingua Franca” of Filipino auteur Isabel Sandoval and produced by multi-awarded Filipino Broadway producer Jhett Tolentino, and “Mindanao” by Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Filipino member, Brillante Mendoza.
