Journey’s Filipino lead singer, Arnel Pineda, recently staged a benefit concert to help a United States non-profit organization provide medical support to the Philippines.

Arnel Pineda went on stage on August 2 at the Wild Horse Pass Hotel and Casino in Arizona for the first fundraising event staged by Project J.O.Y.

Proceeds for Arnel Pineda’s medical benefit concert titled “Rock for Joy” are to benefit Project J.O.Y. and its mission to provide advanced medical resources and training to impoverished areas of the Philippines.

“I’m really grateful that I can make a bit of a difference to the lives of these underprivileged kids,” Pineda said in an AZCentral report about the medical benefit concert that intends to help Project J.O.Y. adopt an underprivileged hospital in the Philippines and provide it with medical and surgical equipment. The group will also collaborate with local medical professionals to help the hospital become a leading medical center providing a critical resource to the community.

Performing continuously in the U.S. and around the world as a solo artist and frontman for Journey since he joined the American rock band 12 years back, Arnel Pineda has been involved in several projects for the Philippines to give back to his native country, including helping kids gain money management skills.

In the Arizona benefit show, Pineda performed classic-rock songs that the Filipino Pride Advocate grew up with in Manila along with some original material penned by the singer-songwriter.

Pineda also revealed to AZCentral that he is currently working on his latest solo record.

Arnel Pineda will rejoin the Journey on tour in September, followed by three-week Las Vegas residency at Caesars Palace.
