Filipino actress Liza Soberano is starring in the upcoming Hollywood horror-comedy film, Lisa Frankenstein.
The voice of Alexandra Trese in Netflix’s first Filipino comic-based anime series about supernatural forces will next play the role of Taffy in the zombie rom-com along with Cole Sprouse, Kathryn Newton, Carla Gugino, and Joe Chrest.
The actress announced on Instagram that she will star in the Focus Features-produced film set in 1989 where Lisa Frankenstein is an unpopular high-schooler who accidentally reanimated a handsome Victorian corpse, Cole’s character, during a lightning storm.
The film is also the directorial debut of the late Robin Williams’ daughter Zelda Williams and is written by Oscar-winner Diablo Cody.

Soberano’s management Careless Music made the official announcement a week after the actress’ confirmation.

Liza’s co-star Kathryn Newton, who will play the titular role, posted on Instagram a mirror shot of the two actresses in robes and a make-up pouch that clarifies she is Kathryn’s Lisa, not Liza – the similar names that must have stirred confusion on the filming set.

It can be recalled that Liza was offered to take flight as the iconic superheroine Darna prior to Jane De Leon’s now must-watch TV series. Unfortunately, due to a finger injury, Soberano was unable to fulfill the portrayal and had to quit the project.
When Liza confirmed the Lisa Frankenstein project, fans were quick to admire the momentous redirection for the stunning actress.
The industry is buzzing that indeed, it is high time the Most Beautiful Face in the World and Global Endorser Liza Soberano stars in a Hollywood film.
