Popular Filipino actress Marian Rivera-Dantes is again setting an inspiring example for other mothers after she donated her excess breast milk for babies in need during the lockdown to stop the spread of coronavirus disease.
The breastfeeding advocate shared on social media about her mission and milk donation to mark the celebration of World Day of Human Milk Donation on May 19, 2020.
“Sa pag gunita sa ‘World Day of Human Milk Donation’ nais kong kong ibahagi ang mumunting alay ko sa mga sanggol na makikinabang sa natatanging sustansya at proteksyong taglay ng gatas ng ina,” the GMA Kapuso actress said on her Instagram post that came with a photo of her packed milk.
(In observance of World Day of Human Milk Donation I wish to share my humble offering to babies who need the nutrients and protection given by a mother’s milk.)
The 35-year-old mother of two also acknowledged the love, care, and sacrifices of all mothers for their children. “Nakikiisa ako sa mga padede-nanay/moms na walang humpay sa pagaalaga sa kanilang mga Anak,” Marian Rivera-Dantes wrote.
Marian said she hopes that her milk donation helps needy babies in this time of a global health crisis: “Sa panahon ng crisis, nawa’y makatulong ang donasyon na eto sa mga sanggol na higit na nangangailangan.”
Marian Rivera started donating her excess breast milk in July 2019 to the Milk Sharing Hub of The Parenting Emporium in Quezon City after she gave birth to her second child, Sixto.
Aside from supporting various fundraising drives for the poor families in lockdown and medical health workers fighting coronavirus disease, the actress also prepared and donated homecooked meals for the frontliners in Quezon City General Hospital using their family heirloom recipe.
The inspirational working mom earlier donated 500 boxes of Nido milk for children.
