Introducing Chef Lisa Revilla, the first Filipino to become an executive chef for Michelin-starred Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten.

Revilla is the chef at The Dempsey Cookhouse & Bar, the Singapore restaurant of world-famous French-American Chef Jean-Georges.

Chef Revilla told Paulo Chua of Town and Country about trying her first recipe – hot chocolate with marshmallows saying, “I remember being so thrilled making it.” Her interest in cooking was piqued when she received a children’s cookbook.

Revilla wanted to study culinary but her parents did not approve so she was instead sent to study Economics at Ateneo de Manila. An agreement with her parents allowed her to go to New York to study at the Institute of Culinary Education and French Culinary Institute.

The Filipino chef worked her way up and experienced various things during her years in different fine dining restaurants. After she journeyed through different places she then decided to work for chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten. Revilla learned more while working with the renowned chef.

Chef Lisa Revilla advises aspiring chefs to continue to chase their dreams, “Don’t lose the thirst for knowledge and learn as much as you can from every mentor that you’ll get. Stay grounded and give back by looking after the newer guys in the industry.”

Send Chef Lisa Revilla your good cheers for reaching her goals in the comment section below!
