Netflix showcases Filipino street food in new TV series

Filipino street food, named in the Top 50 World Street Food Masters by World Street Food Congress, will again be on showcase in the upcoming documentary series of Netflix scheduled to premiere April 26 worldwide on stream.

“Street Food,” the new Netflix series from the creators of “Chef’s Table,” will feature the country’s talented cooks, their trademark cuisine, and the rich culture behind every street food. The show trailer teased about the Filipinos’ favorite lechon “roast pork” which chef Anthony Bourdain loved, and isaw (grilled innards).

The 9-episode documentary series will put the spotlight on the food fare in Cebu, along with that of other countries in Southeast Asia.

The Filipino cooks to be featured with their struggles in making it to the top with their revolutionary signature dishes include:

  1. Florencio “Entoy” Escabas with his signature “nilarang bakasi”
  2. Leslie Enjambre with her “Lechon Cebu”
  3. Ian Secong with his “tuslob-buwa”
  4. Rubilyn Diko Manayon and her “Lumpia”

Netflix “Street Food” features the following Southeast Asian countries:
• Bangkok, Thailand
• Osaka, Japan
• Delhi, India
• Yogyakarta, Indonesia
• Chiayi, Taiwan
• Seoul, South Korea
• Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
• Singapore
• Cebu, Philippines
