OPM stars have united to perform “We Heal As One”, a remake of the 30th Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) anthem, to call for unity amidst the health crisis due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Twenty-five Filipino artists joined forces for the music video of “We Heal as One” singing all new lyrics to the tune of “We Win as One” originally sung by Broadway Royalty Lea Salonga for the 2019 Southeast Asian Games hosted by the Philippines.

The SEA Games anthem that was composed by National Artist for Music Maestro Ryan Cayabyab with lyrics by Palanca award-winning writer Floy Quintos and inspired the region’s athletes in medal ceremonies, is now a song calling for Filipinos to act in unity to overcome the health crisis which has put the Luzon island on a community quarantine.

The OPM artists sang and recorded lines for the new “We Heal As One” from their respective homes and studios while on quarantine to prevent the spread of coronavirus disease in the country. Three doctors are also seen singing on the video.

The music video, which begins with Ryan Cayabyab’s introduction call for unity, was uploaded on UniversalRecPH’s YouTube channel, on the Facebook pages of Ryan Cayabyab (Myran Etorsa) and Lea Salonga on March 26, 2020. It was directed by Frank Lloyd Mamaril, with music produced by Eloisa Matias, and arranged by Jimmy Antiporda.

The video that also features Lea Salonga and Apl de Ap already has over 182-thousand views as of this writing and is now on the 12th spot of YouTube Trending videos.

Maestro Ryan started off the music video with a message.

“Handog namin itong kantang ito para sa lahat ng Pilipino. Tayo na po at magkaisa at magtulungan para malagpasan po natin ang pagsubok na ito. Stay home. Tara sabay-sabay nating awitin.”

The music video includes these onscreen messages:
“Together we are being called to make a future world. The test we face is for us to prove that we can heal as one”.

Lea Salonga captioned her post introducing We Heal as One, “A song that once united this nation has been rewritten and rearranged to reflect the challenges posed by the CoViD-19 virus.

“Interpreted by Filipino singers who have, from the safety of their homes, lent their voices to this effort.

“It is our collective hope that the new lyrics reflect a timely and humane artistic response to the war we all must win together.”

Netizens have praised the initiative to inspire the Filipino nation to band together in a time of crisis.

Fhevie Jewel Canonizado saluted the doctors and frontliners in the comments, “SALUDO PO KAMI SA MGA DOCTOR/FRONTLINERS NA HANDANG ITAYA ANG KANILANG MGA BUHAY PARA SA ATIN.WE ARE SO PROUD OF YOU..”

Maxie Goloy thanked Maestro Ryan and Floy Quintos, who composed and gave the title and the music of the song “Thank you, Mr. C and Floy Quintos, and the many artists who sang in this beautiful anthem. May the Lord anoint this song w/ the same anointing he placed upon the psalmist David who could heal and drive away demons of infirmity whenever he played his harp. 💖”
