The Peninsula Manila’s The Bar has been named one of the 44 World’s Best Hotel Bars in the 2019 Forbes Travel Guide.

The Philippines’ The Bar is in the best-of list released October 15, along with the best hotel bars from Paris, London, Switzerland, Venice, Milan, Dubai, Macau, Singapore, Hong Kong, Bali, Tokyo, and the United States, that met Forbes Travel Guide’s 900 standards for the annual Star Ratings.

The 44 Best Hotel Bars represent the choice selection of Forbes Travel Guide inspectors who anonymously evaluated over 1,000 hotels.

Forbes Travel Guide contributor Jennifer Kester writes: “Being named one of Forbes Travel Guide’s Best Hotel Bars isn’t just a matter of serving top-notch drinks or having a certain atmosphere; the venues had to demonstrate an exceptional beverage program, presentation and service… The bars also had to achieve near-perfect scores on food and beverage quality standards, which measure things such as whether the cocktails are well-balanced and served at the right temperature.”

The Bar of The Peninsula Manila was described on the Forbes Travel Guide World’s Best Hotel Bars list as:

“Bedecked in checkered flooring and wood walls, the bar gleans inspiration from an old Cuban-cigar factory (it’s the hotel’s smoking area). Sample pica-pica (finger food) like pork sisig croquetas (balls of creamy béchamel and crispy pork) and Sriracha butter duck wings, and sip on the Batangas Old Fashioned, which swaps in Maker’s Mark infused with Kapeng Barako (a Filipino coffee variety).”

The Peninsula Manila is the only recognizable landmark of the Makati district in Manila from 40 years ago. Earlier this year, The Peninsula Manila received its inaugural 5-Star award in the 61st edition of the Forbes Travel Guide Star Awards, raising its 4-star rating in the 2018 edition of the annual awards.

The Peninsula Manila is also known for its Escolta restaurant led by its Filipina Executive Chef, Jobellyn Barbasa.
