The Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) celebrated the start of Philippine Arts Month in February with a jampacked weekend of “Pasinaya” – a multi-arts open house festival featuring Filipino heritage and arts performed by 3,000 artists.

The artists who come from all over the Philippines and from different disciplines of dance, music, theater, spoken word, and visual arts took the stage in various venues in the CCP Complex and the National Museum.

The 15th anniversary of Pasinaya “Palihan at Palabas” was extended the usual 2-day festival into three from February 1 to 3.

The 2019 Pasinaya was themed “Karapatan, Kalayaan, Kultura” highlighting the importance of human rights and freedom in the preservation and cultivation of heritage and culture – two important aspects of community development and national progress.

Good News Pilipinas put together the highlights from Pasinaya’s 3 days of the country’s biggest open house festival:

FEBRUARY 1

The first day of Pasinaya, February 1, was spent for various arts and cultural “Palihan” or workshops inside the CCP conducted by the country’s leading artists, teachers and resource persons. Art galleries were also opened and run until the last day of the festival. All for only P50.

FEBRUARY 2

The second day was dedicated to “Palabas” of various artists and performing groups from nearby provinces such Bulacan, Quezon, Laguna, Cavite, Batangas, Bicol, Rizal, with Pangasinan and Tarlac from the north, and Boracay from the south.

FEBRUARY 3

The third and last day of Pasinaya 2019 was the highlight of the CCP’s multi-arts festival. School and community-based groups and artists from the metro and nearby provinces showcased their talent and prepared repertoire together with the country’s finest and the CCP’s resident companies such as:
