The Philippines’ youth wrestling team has bagged nine medals in the 2021 United World Wrestling (UWW) Junior and Cadets World Grappling Championships in Ufa, Russia.

The young Filipino wrestlers harvested three silver medals and six bronze medals to place third overall in the country rankings of the international tournament held at the Ufa Arena in Russia from August 13 to 14, 2021.

  • Lord Gabriel Del Rosario dominated the under-46kg division and delivered silver medals in the Gi and No-Gi events
  • David Zaldarriaga of Iloilo City won a silver medal in the Gi event and bronze in the No-Gi event in the Cadets’ 42-kg category
  • Alonso Lucas Aguilar, Joaquin Antonio Marte, and Fierre Proudhon Afan produced bronze medals

Philippine-trained teen wrestlers, Anthony Arcilla and Royce Tiu previously competed in the United States and brought home 3 gold medals and 1 silver from the 19th Annual Boys and Girls Wrestling Competition.
