Siblings Elaiza and Karl Yulo won a total of 10 medals including 5 gold in their respective events at the JRC Gymnastics Stars Championships in Thailand, holding their own ground as the younger siblings of Filipino World Champion gymnast, Carlos Yulo.

13-year-old Elaiza won first place and gold medals in four events while 14-year-old Karl won 1 gold, 4 silver, and 1 bronze during the Bangkok five-nation tournament held from November 17 to 20, 2022.

The Yulos competed with the backing of Alpha Gymnastics Philippines and the Gymnastics Association of the Philippines (GAP), the same organization as their elder brother, two-time World Gymnastics Champion, Carlos Yulo.

In a Facebook post, GAP announced the wins of the Yulo siblings saying, “It runs in the family!”

GAP is among the 26 clubs from Hong Kong, the Philippines, Vietnam, India, and Thailand, that participated in the tournament hosted by the Gymnastics Association of Thailand.

In her Facebook post on November 18, Angelica Poquiz Yulo, the mother of the Yulo siblings shared, “Congratulations to these amazing [people] who never failed me. First time to compete as a Junior and after 2 years of waiting because of the pandemic, we had limited trainings because of the restrictions due to COVID-19 and yet you never gave up and it [paid] off.”

Carlos Yulo, a Filipino Olympian, took silver and bronze in the 51st FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships two weeks ago.
