Pinoy kids Justine Afante and Victoria Alsina are in the grand finals of the global singing competition, “The Voice Kids” in the United Kingdom.
The 13-year-old Afante and 7-year-old Alsina secured their spots in the final four after amazing performances of twelve (12) young singers aired on August 22, 2020,
Justine, a four-chair turner in the blind audition, wowed the judges and the audience with her powerful rendition of Whitney Houston’s “One Moment In Time.”
The 13-year-old singer competed with Rae Harding and her fellow Filipino singer and co-four-chair-turner, Joshua Regala before coach Pixie Lott chose Afante in the end.
“It is remarkable, your voice was ringing out, singing high notes effortlessly,” said Lott in awe of Justine’s performance.
“I feel like my heart will go over to the roof because we feel like we’re in the presence of a future amazing star,” commented the reigning winning coach Danny Jones.
On the other hand, 7-yr-old Victoria, who is the youngest finalist in the show’s history, captured the hearts of everyone with her rendition of Mariah Carey’s “Hero.”
The adorable young singer was picked over two competitors by their coach Will.i.am and received a standing ovation from the judges after her performance.
“My gut is split into three equal parts. The person I’m taking through is… Victoria,” the Black Eyed Peas rapper announced.
After the child’s wonderful performance, the judges had nothing to say but praise the talent of Victoria.
“You did a great interpretation of a brilliant song, you’re my hero,” said the new judge Paloma Faith.
“I’m so proud of you for tackling the song fearlessly, you are super brave and the world needs more Victorias,” Will.i.am commented.
The two Filipino kids will vie for the title of The Voice UK grand champion against George Elliott of team Danny Jones and Dara McNicholl of team Paloma Faith at the pre-recorded grand finals on Aug. 29.
