For this year’s AAPI Heritage Month, I had the honor of attending the powerful screening of Third Act at the 2025 Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival (#VCFilmFest). The film was shown at 6 PM inside the historic Aratani Theater in Little Tokyo, Los Angeles.
Directed by Tadashi Nakamura, Third Act tells a deeply personal story. Its logline reads:
“Generations of artists call Robert A. Nakamura ‘the godfather of Asian American Media,’ but filmmaker Tadashi Nakamura calls him Dad. Robert’s diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease leads to an exploration of art, activism, grief, and fatherhood.”
This documentary is also an Official Selection of the prestigious Sundance Film Festival.
Before the screening, I witnessed heartfelt remarks from Francis Cullado, Executive Director of LAPFF 2025, and Tadashi Nakamura. Their words reminded us of the power of storytelling in preserving cultural identity and honoring legacy.
As a Filipino-American media personality, I felt proud and emotional seeing this celebration of identity, creativity, and generational love unfold during AAPI Heritage Month.
